Kent Blackmon is the Vice President of Global People Operations and Shared Services for Varian Medical Systems where he is responsible for leading and creating synergies across all Global Shared Services locations, HR Technology and User Experience (including Workday), Global Mobility, Immigration, HR Compliance, Privacy & Policies, Engagement, and Workforce Analytics.


Over the course of his career, Kent has successfully led the strategic business transformation of human resources, finance, commercial, and supply chain operations in various large organizations. He joined Varian from Johnson & Johnson where he was Senior Director & Global Process Owner (GPO) responsible for the proactive development, enhancement, and governance of the end-to-end global talent development processes for Johnson & Johnson. Kent owned the design and governance of all employee experience business processes for both the centers of expertise (COEs) and shared services operations related to performance management, career development, coaching and mentoring, succession planning, learning strategy, learning delivery, and learning administration. He was also responsible for the identification and alignment of business processes within the Workday HCM and Cornerstone-on- Demand learning platforms.


Kent has held roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of strategic business transformation and process excellence at Coca-Cola, Recall Corporation, GE Capital, Bank of America, Ford Motor Credit, Southwestern Bell Corp, and Motorola to name a few. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering with a focus in Business Operations and Statistics from Purdue University and an MBA from Prairie View A&M University. He is also a PMI-certified PMP and a certified LEAN Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
