Achievement Academy Grand Chapter JVP Representative

Deric J. Rush is a Senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina where he is a Broadcast Journalism Major and a Minor in Sports & Entertainment. During his time at the university, Deric has been a very vocal member of the minority demographic on his PWI's campus. During the spring of 2019, Deric was one of the pivotal members of a minority leadership caucus that organized a series of protests against the university's electing board of directors for their wrongful election of the current university president.

Deric takes pride in being well rounded and heavily involved both on campus as well as in the city of Columbia. On Campus, Deric is a member of UofSC's chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Deric is also an ambassador for the School of Journalism & Mass Communications at UofSC. Deric also is a Fall '18 Initiate of the Zeta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. where he currently serves as the Southeastern Province (region) Junior Vice Polemarch (President). Deric was also selected in the top 60 of the fraternities national selection of undergraduates to be a member of the 2019 (Delta) class of LEAD Kappa, the fraternity's largest week-long leadership training program. Deric is also currently operating as the fraternity's Grand Chapter JVP Achievement Academy Representative.

Deric is a native of Sumter, South Carolina where he played basketball and football throughout his life. Deric plans intern for CBS Sports Studios in their productions and editing department.
